Humboldt Distillery is a rising star in northern California. With sales growing and their signature organic vodka becoming the #1 best-selling organic vodka in California, Humboldt Distillery was poised to turn the corner and achieve success beyond their home state. But they needed some marketing help. They asked us to create a tagline, brand identity and some ad campaigns that would position them as a national player – while sticking firmly to their roots as a native California brand.

 

Within six months of partnering with us and running our online and outdoor campaigns, sales at Humboldt Distillery jumped 49% compared to the same period of time in the previous year.

 

TAGLINE DEVELOPMENT

The assignment was to create a tagline for Humboldt Distillery that was short, clever, and positioned them as THE California brand. Our solution, “The Spirit of California” was an instant hit.

DIGITAL & SOCIAL / ORGANIC VODKA

With the tagline locked, we created a series of fun display ads that featured punchy, bold headlines against a gritty blue background to invoke the Northern California vibe and the attitude of a fiercely independent distillery.

 

DIGITAL & SOCIAL / HEMP-INFUSED VODKA

Humboldt’s Finest is a unique botanical spirit infused with locally-grown hemp. The result is a smooth, wildly-original vodka that drinks like a gin. Our strategy was to produce a self-aware ad campaign that raised some eyebrows.

 

OUTDOOR CAMPAIGN

The Spirit of California campaign was so successful online that Humboldt Distillery decided to expand into outdoor. These boards are currently running in the San Francisco market.
